BARCLAYS PREMIER LEAGUE 17/18 PREVIEW: GAMEWEEK 9

   

     The Barclays Premier League returned last night, with Brighton edging  Slav Bilic closer to the sack. 3-0 to Chris Houghton's visitors, Glenn Murray (former Hammers man) grabbed a double. You ready for the weekend?
        First off, we're at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea welcome Watford for what promises to be a really exciting one. Contrasting fortunes for both sides, with the hosts' the more damaging. Will Zaha's Silhouette still flashing in Toni Comte's mind. Brazilian buy Richarlison relishing the prospect of facing the defending champs in their own backyard. Surely isn't another one here?
       Next come the Goal Rush games (16:00 GMT). Mancunian entertainers City receive Sean Dyche's Burnley. Dyche trying to find a way to convince his lads they won't get thwacked. Only Everton have gone there, and left unscathed. Swansea City take on Leicester at the Liberty Stadium, Lukaku's at Huddersfield, Crystal Palace looking for back-to-back wins for the first time this season at Newcastle. Stoke v Bournemouth the last of the games. Jack Butland has been reported ill 😷 due to last week's drubbing. Some hours later, West Brom and Southampton close the day's action at The Hawthorns. Nacer Chadli aiming for his second after that brilliant set piece v Leicester on Monday.

   Super Sunday couldn't have been more super. "Remember the name, Wayne Rooney". Arsenal are reunited with their favorite opponent at Goodison Park. The Everton forward has 8 against Wenger's men. Some things just never change. Harry Kane welcomes Liverpool to Wembley. Of course, it was always going to be about him. Man's hit 7 this season already. Or wait, this could be Phil Coutinho's chance eh? Former wantaway Brazilian showing glimpses of his form last term. Klopp having a rye smile.
       Right, we're here again. Pep's here again. It can't be another rout, can it? Rumours indicate José's handing Dyche his Real Madrid playbook. Arsène still can't believe he's about to face Wayne Rooney.

EPL 18/19 TITLE WATCH: GAMEWEEK 37.

         It’s squeaky bum time alright.   Manchester City’s hard fought win v a stubborn Burnley side inched Pep Guardiola Closer to what could be an alternative treble. Klopp? His side brushed aside already-relegated Huddersfield Town 5-0, with Mo’ Salah and Sadio Mané hitting braces. Two more games to go, who’s your money on?      Lionel Messi may just have done Liverpool a favour: the manner of Wednesday’s defeat could spark a reaction from the Merseysiders, as James Milner recently hinted. They’ll have to line up against the man who gave them their last UCL victory. You guessed right: Rafael Benitez. His team sit in 13th, free of the scrapple down below. Mind you, the Geordie would love a fight, and that’s what Liverpool don’t cope with too well. Their away record is questionable for champions-elect, but they’re still in there. UCL 18/19: IT’S AN ALL-ENGLISH AFFAIR

      (c) https://www.teamtalk.com/  Cue Mo Salah.        Whew. Taken a breath yeah? This is why we love the game. It’s never over till AY says so, or the lady. What a 48 hours it’s been. This season has shown us one thing on different occasions: fortune really does favour the brave.     Brave? Or a case of the never-disappearing bottle. Barcelona threw away a 3-0 lead, again. Jürgen Klopp having another Istanbul-like night. Borussia Dortmund suffered the same in 2016. What makes this more special, is the fact that they did it without Mo’ Salah and Firmino. When you’re backed up against the wall, it seems that’s when true character is shown.
